Abstract
Maulana Azad, a rarest of the rare personality, did not compromise on two major issues, first, Unity of India and second, education to its citizens. As a first education minister of free India, he had a great burden to democratize and universalize Indian education system, different from the then practicing British education system and irrespective of caste, creed, religion, elite class or gender. He believed that wealth of a nation is not concentrated in country s banks but in primary schools. He established National System of Indian Education, which is still continued in free India. According to him, the aims of education are: quest of truth, the concept of justice, spread of enlightenment, unity and cooperation, spirit of daring and practice of courtesy and chivalry. Maulana Azad was focused about girls education, vocational training, agricultural education, adult literacy, craft and technical education. According to Maulana Azad, educational standards needed to be upgraded at the university stage. The universities have not only academic responsibilities, but social responsibilities as well. He firmly believed with Pt. Nehru that if the universities discharged their functions well, all will be well with the Nation. Here, the researcher critically examined his vision and contribution towards modernizing the education system.

Abstract
The efficiency of an educational system depends largely on the efficiency of its teachers. The quality of education imparted to children depends to a large extent on the quality of teachers, building, equipment, curricula, books and teaching methods are no doubt important. But no other aspect of education is so vital and significant as the men and women who actually teach. It is they who can make proper use of all the above said factors who can give meaning and life to the curriculum. The study aimed to find the difference in attitude of teachers towards teaching on the basis of gender, stream and locality. The sample for the study consisted of 300 secondary school teachers selected through simple random sampling technique from district Srinagar and district Kupwara of Jammu and Kashmir State. The ‘Ahluwalia’s Teacher Attitude Inventory’ was used for the present study. The sample consisting of 300 secondary school teachers. Data analysis is based on the mean score obtained from the respondents. For statistical analysis t-test was used to determine whether there are significant differences in Attitudes of teachers. During the study it was found that the effective teachers possess good personality characteristics like punctuality, softness and lovable to students.

Abstract
Philosophy begins when human beings start trying to understand the world, not through religion or by accepting authority but using reason. The daily lives of most of us are full of things that keep us busy and preoccupied. However, every now and again we find ourselves drawing back and wondering what it is all about. Then, perhaps we may start asking fundamental questions that normally we do not stop to ask. This can happen with regard to any aspect of life. In this article, the focus attention is to discuss the importance of philosophy. Philosophers attempt to answer such questions through the philosophical method. The method usually begins when a philosopher examines his own beliefs and begins to doubt their validity. From his doubt, questions emerge. Before answering a question, the philosopher thoroughly analyzes it to ensure it is clearly and properly defined. This helps narrow the path to the most precise answer. Next, the philosopher proposes possible answers to the question and provides reasoned arguments to support each one.

Abstract
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is playing a vital role in open and distance learning (ODL) to meet the requirements and expectations of the learners’ in large scale. It is difficult to perform the same using any traditional institutional system due to its limited resources. ICT has various proven tools and technologies to meet the requirements of a learner at various phases of learning cycle viz the admission phase, the learning phase, the evaluation phase and finally the certification phase as a service. Due to heterogeneous requirements in open distance learning, there are issues and challenges that are to be addressed in usage of the technology and the service(s) being provided through ICT. The paper emphasizes the issues and challenges on the computing & network infrastructure, portability with respect to hardware & software and various learner support services. The paper also presents on security issues of a service in terms of its availability, authenticity, confidentiality and access control so that one can ensure a service to the utmost satisfaction of a learner in open distance learning system.
